826michigan Storytellers Benefit

A non-profit organization that supports students with their creative and expository writing skills launches a unique community fundraiser.

Each year, this Ann Arbor based non-profit weaves together an evening of storytellers, food, and casual conversation. 2015’s fundraiser was no different and convened on-site at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms in Dexter, Michigan. We worked with the staff at 826 to conjure a look for the event that drew upon the historic architecture of the farm and its alluring rural landscape.

We headed over to Signal Return, a community-run letterpress workshop, and worked on constructing the collateral from hundreds of typographic ornaments and shapes. This tactile process of using our hands to assemble and print compositions was tricky but made the final piece more shareable. A flecked paper stock helped to tie together the look which manifested through a system of envelopes, reply cards, and printed menus.
